This a most basic banjo strum for picking.

Measure One :Basic strum= Brush ring finger across all four strings, then with the thumb strike the fifth string.

Secondly, pick the the third string with the middle finger, then with the thumb pick the fifth string .

Thirdly, with the middle finger pick the third string , then brush across the four strings with ring finger.
-
Pick the fifth string with the thumb.
-
The G Scale:
With middle finger strike the third string, then strike the same string with the thumb.
Play the G scale,, then play any tune with the same methodology.
