basic strum

  • Introduction to basic strum

  • This a most basic banjo strum for picking.

  • Measure One :Basic  strum=  Brush ring finger across all four strings, then with the thumb strike the fifth string. 

  • Secondly, pick the the third string with the middle finger, then with the thumb pick the fifth string .

  • Thirdly, with the middle finger pick the third string , then brush across the four strings with ring finger. 

  • Pick the fifth string with the thumb.  

The G Scale: 

With middle finger strike the third string, then strike the same string with the thumb. 

Play the G scale,, then play any tune with the same methodology. 

Try the basic strum first, then try the roll.
